![]() ![]() A Hermetic or other Mage inspired by Western Esoterism could etch symbols on the objects, strengthening its connection to the Platonic ideal of that object. Choristers could just say the objects have been suitably blessed, so as to make them potent against demons. An Etherite could claim to have exposed it to (what else?) Ether, or magnetized it for optimal Animal Magnetism. This is significantly easier to justify, regardless of your Paradigm.įor the Technocrat, it could involve exposing the objects to quantum particles, expanding its waveform until it exists in other dimensions. But the latter basically boils down to "I did magick/science on my knife, and it cuts ghosts now". Obviously, if you have a Focus that does incorporate universal spiritual presence - technosorcerers, Hermetics, monotheists, etc. ![]() What does awakening an object actually do? The answers are these: 1) making the object operate just a little better (knives stay sharp, cars run better, toasters make better toast, etc.), and 2) making that object exist simultaneously in the material and umbral worlds (thereby allowing them to attack spirits). ![]() But let's examine this from a practical standpoint. One must believe that all objects have souls in order to wake them up. Now that may seem as though I just answered my own question. Why do only Animists get to awaken the spirits of objects? But since reading it on HDYDT?, it got me thinking about it again. Been ruminating on the subject of Awakening Objects for a while now. ![]()
